Advanced Propulsion Technologies has built and operates its own Engine Test Cell for its engine development programs and durability testing in California. It is equipped to allow for detailed diagnostics and analysis of Opposed Piston Opposed Cylinder (opoc™) engines and Electric Power Cell (epc™) generator development programs. The APT Engine Test Cell is capable of evaluating friction, engine performance, durability and emissions. It employs engine sensing equipment and utilizes dynamic data acquisition ensuring rapid and precise measurements and analysis. This engine data gives the test engineering staff real-time insight into engine operation and performance conditions, enabling optimization throughout the development cycle. APT is partnered with a global engine engineering services leader with state-of-the-art facilities to support the testing of opoc™ engine families.

In addition to the Engine Test Cell, APT has test labs for the Electrically Controlled Turbocharger and the microsol™ Heater. The Electrically Controlled Turbocharger test lab is a state-of-the-art and fully automated facility able to measure and control volumetric efficiency, electric motor power and temperature plus the ability to replicate field conditions (oil/water/air flows and temperature) using APT’s proprietary control software.  APT technicians can test and benchmark microsol™ heating applications in the test cell thus resulting in the ability to quantify efficiency, compare products, measure fuel/air flows and temperature among other metrics.
